Incorrect use

Chains used in lifting applications should not be joined. A complete length of chain should be used.

Crowding

Chain connectors are designed to accommodate single load bearing points only. Where there are two chains within one connector, ensure that only one of the chains is loaded at any time.

Point Loading

Hooks used in lifting applications should not be point loaded. The load must seat within the bowl of the hook at all times.

Side Loading

Hooks used in lifting applications should not be side loaded. The correct rigging equipment should be used to ensure the load applied is in line with the hook.

Loading Safety Latch

Safety latches on lifting hooks are an essential part and must be fitted and fully functional. Hooks should not be used if the safety latch is damaged, missing difficult to use.

Worn Equipment
